Early intervention to prevent violence requires access to resources. Parents, siblings, friends, and others in caring roles need to know where they can turn for help if someone close to them is in need. Mental health professionals are a resource in efforts to prevent domestic, sexual, bullying, and gang violence. The Centers for Disease Control notes that different forms of violence are interconnected and often share the same root causes. It makes sense then to consider whether mental health professionals can help prevent ideologically inspired targeted violence.
